Commonly known as French tarragon, this perennial herb has a pungent licorice-like taste. It has extensive medical uses in curing toothaches, sleep disorders and appetite ailments. In cooking it is used as a flavoring agent. Tarragon prefers a sunny sheltered place to grow for years and prefers a sandy soil to produce flavorful leaves.
